Vincent Thomas has enjoyed an eclectic career in the Arts for over 30 years. He has worked as an Actor, Stage Director, Fight Director & Performer, Singer and Trumpet player.
After finishing Humber College for their Jazz program, he worked as a Knight at Medieval Times for almost 7 years, emerging as an accomplished equestrian and actor combatant. He now holds
certifications and has trained and worked with many different combat societies around the world, mostly in European martial arts.
Vincent made his formal operatic directing debut with Pellegrini Opera in 2010, with their production of Mozart’s Don Giovanni. Also a founding member, he was the Artistic Director from 2014 until its dissolution in 2022, during which time he successfully produced and directed over a dozen shows and events.
He has worked with many other companies as a Stage Director and Fight Director, including Southern Ontario Lyric Opera, Opera York, Opera Hamilton, and The Bravo Academy as well as a plethora of film and television credits.
He was the Fight Director for the Macau International Music Festival, in China, for their 2004 production of Gounod’s Romeo et Juliette, a co-production between the Festival and Opera de Nice, France.
More recently, Vincent directed Pellegrini Opera’s final season, which included Gounod’s Romeo et Juliette in late 2019, and the company’s final appearance after the pandemic in 2022, at the Ottawa Italian Week Festival. He directed Southern Ontario Lyric Opera’s 2019 season which included Mozart’s Don Giovanni, and Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro.
Vincent is also currently making his Canadian Opera Company debut in their production of Verdi’s Macbeth, as one of 6 Soldiers chosen for the show’s fighting & amp; stunts. He is thrilled to return to SOLO to direct their 2023 production of La Traviata.
