Vanessa Oude-Reimerink

Soprano Vanessa Oude-Reimerink has been featured in leading roles across the country such as Nellie Forbush in South Pacific with Calgary Opera, Josephine in Edmonton Opera’s production of HMS Pinafore, and Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro with Southern Ontario Lyric Opera. Last season, Vanessa made her Tapestry Opera debut in Tap:Ex Augmented Opera, and performed Barbarina in Le Nozze di Figaro with Edmonton Opera. Other notable appearances include Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra, Barbarina/Susanna (cover) in Le Nozze di Figaro (Calgary Opera and Vancouver Opera), Sandman/Dew Fairy in Hansel and Gretel (Vancouver Opera), Lucia in The Rape of Lucretia (Banff Centre/Against the Grain), Cathy in The Last Five Years (Toronto Summer Music Festival), and Frasquita in Carmen (Edmonton Opera). Vanessa has taken part in workshops for new concepts and works with Against the Grain, Opera on the Avalon, and Tapestry Opera. Vanessa is an alumnus of Calgary Opera’s Opera’s Emerging Artist Development Program and Vancouver Opera’s Yulanda M. Faris Young Artist Program. Vanessa holds a Master’s Degree from the Schulich School of Music at McGill University and a Bachelor of Music Performance in Voice from Western University. She has received additional training from The Banff Centre, Centre d’Arts Orford, COSI, Opera NUOVA, Opera on the Avalon, and the St. Andrews Opera Workshop. Vanessa is a recipient of the prestigious Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholarship, an Encouragement Award from the Metropolitan Opera Western Canada District and the Western University Gold Medal. Vanessa is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts in Voice Performance at the University of Toronto. She maintains a private voice studio in her home in Burlington, though all lessons are currently taking place remotely.
