Tenor, Andrew Derynck hails from Jeanette’s Creek, Ontario. He is an alumnus of the Bob McPhee Young Artist program at Calgary Opera and Wilfrid Laurier University where he completed both his Bachelor’s of Music and Opera Diploma. Most recently he has been performing the role of John Woe in the premiere of The Mansplaining Division with Manitoba Underground Opera.
While not on the opera stage, Andrew spends time creating rich harmonies as a member of Chatham’s 3 Tenors. He was a district winner for Western Canada in 2021 and the recipient of an encouragement award from the Buffalo/Toronto district of the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition.
Andrew can be found working on his family farm when not singing; as such when asked what he does for work he often responds with “I scream pretty, and I play in the dirt.”
