An Italo-Canadian operatic tenor whose voice resonates with passion, power, and presence. Raised in Italy, Giacomo’s deep connection to the operatic tradition was
cultivated from an early age, shaping a lifelong dedication to music and performance. Though a PhD and professor of Language Education by profession, music has always been his parallel and
enduring calling.
Classically trained and steeped in the rich traditions of Italian opera, this Niagara-based tenor has built a multifaceted career as a performer, producer, agent, and event organizer. He is the lead vocalist in multiple music projects and has graced the stage in hundreds of performances across Ontario and abroad. His voice and artistry have enchanted audiences in prestigious settings, from intimate theatre halls to large-scale events such as the Niagara Falls New Year’s Eve celebration, where he performed original works before an audience of 40,000.
Giacomo’s international credits include Opera Spectacular in Toronto, the Aurora Concert in Takamatsu, Japan, and the Lunatica Festival at Malaspina Castle in Massa, Italy. He has appeared in Concerto at Teatro Bramante in Urbania and Toast to Music in Niagara Falls, performing alongside Britain’s Got Talent finalist Aliki. He has also performed in Foly and Friends in Terranuova Bracciolini and in numerous concerts and corporate engagements across
Europe and Canada. His operatic repertoire includes a lead role as Luigi in Il Tabarro.
As co-producer and performer of inCanto and currently the producer and lead singer of Crescendo, and the Luna Concert Series in Niagara-on-the Lake. Giacomo continues to shape innovative musical experiences that reflect his artistic vision and cultural heritage.
He remains very active as an agent, event organizer, and producer.
This season marks a significant milestone in his operatic journey as he makes his role debut as Mario Cavaradossi in Puccini’s Tosca with Southern Ontario Lyric Opera (SOLO). With a voice that commands the stage and a presence that bridges classical tradition and contemporary sensibility, Giacomo Folinazzo brings emotional depth, lyrical intensity, and heartfelt artistry to every performance.
